  • Distribution: Indo-Malesia
  • Description: Small trees. Leaves imparipinnate, alternate, clustered at the tips of branchlets, estipulate. Flowers polygamous, greenish-yellow, in terminal cymose panicles. Fruit a capsule; seeds globose.
  • Habit: Tree
  • Habitat: Evergreen and moist deciduous forests, also in the plains.

  • Properties & Uses: Aromatic, stimulant, digestive and appetizer. Fruits are used for the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, diseases of mouth and throat, hiccough, heart diseases, diarrhoea and piles. Oil is used to treat cholera.
