  • Description: Subshrubs. Leaves lyrate, membranous. Flowers purple, 2-4 together, axillary. Fruits a berry, smooth; seeds flat, not pitted.

  • Habitat: Degraded forest areas, also along roadsides and wastelands
  • Flowering & Fruiting: August-November

  • Properties & Uses: Anti-allergic, anti-cancerous and natriuretic. Whole plant is used to treat bronchial asthma, cough, chest pain, vomiting, curing dropsy, hair fall, leprosy, itching, scabies, skin diseases, wound healing, cardiac diseases. Plant is also used for the treatment of migraine and headache. Decoction of the plant is used to treat gonorrhea. Roots are used to treat small pox and measles.
