  • Description: Under shrubs. Leaves ovate or ovate-oblong, sinuately to deeply lobed. Flowers bluish-violet in extra-axillary racemes. Fruit a berry, globose; orange yellow when ripe.
  • Habit: Shrub
  • Habitat: Evergreen, semi-evergreen and deciduous forests, also in the plains
  • Flowering & Fruiting: August-December

  • Properties & Uses: Bitter, digestive, astringent, anthelmintic, stomachic and hypnotic. Roots are used for the treatment of leucoderma, asthma, fever, pain, bronchitis, vomiting and cardiac troubles. Fruits are used to treat pruritus, bronchitis, fever, vomiting and diseases of eye. Leaves juice is used to treat itching.
