  • Description: Prostrate herbs. Leaves broadly ovate or orbicular, base cordate, margins serrate-crenate, apex acute to acuminate. Flowers yellow, axillary, solitary. Fruits a schizocarp; seeds reniform, brownish-black.

  • Properties & Uses: Cooling, astringent and tonic. Whole plant is used to treat fever and urinary disorders. Leaf juice is effective for treating diarrhea during pregnancy. Pounded and poultice of leaves are used to treat cuts and bruises. Flowers and unripe fruits are mixed with sugar is used internally to relieve burning sensation. Root bark is used in the treatment of gonorrhea.
