  • Description: Prostrate herbs. Leaves obovate-spathulate or oblanceolate. Flowers 5-merous, purplish, aggregated in axillary, globose-capitate or elongate, cylindric, stalked spikes. Drupe enclosing two, 1-celled pyrenes.

  • Properties & Uses: Whole plant is cooling, aphrodisiac, astringent, stomachic, vulnerary and anthelmintic. It is used for the treatment of diseases of heart, eye, asthma, bronchitis, thirst, loss of consciousness, ulcers, wounds, colds and fever. Leaves and tender stalks are used to treat indigestion of women following child birth.
