  • Distribution: Endemic to Peninsular India
  • Description: Woody herbs. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets obovate, laterals oblique, base cuneate, margins entire to serrate, apex obtuse. Flowers white, axillary, solitary. Capsule ovoid to subglobose, 3-valved; seeds curved, truncate at both ends.

  • Habitat: Moist deciduous forests, also in the plains
  • Flowering & Fruiting: August-December

  • Properties & Uses: Emetic, expectorant, cooling and vulnerary. Roots are used in acute dysentery, chronic bronchitis, asthma, biliousness and ulcers. Leaves and stem decoction are used to treat biliousness.
