Distribution: Native of East Moluccas
Description: Medium tress, dioecious, bark black. Leaves simple, alternate, estipulate. Flowers unisexual, yellow; male flowers: 3-5 in axillary cymes, urceolate; female flowers: urceolate, larger than the male, few in axillary cymes. Fruit a capsule, yellow; aril red, lacinate; seed brown.

Properties & Uses: Carminative, stimulant, anthelmintic and diuretic. Fruit is used to treat vomiting, thirst, diseases of heart and urinary discharges. The seed oil is useful in diarrhea, pains, ulcers, it also improves the appetite. The nut and arils are used for the treatment of chronic diarrhea, diseases of heart and spleen, headache, palsy, eye troubles. It also used for the treatment of fever, general debility, inflammation, worm infestation, cough, asthma, vomiting and hepatopathy.
