  • Distribution: Central Asia and India
  • Description: Woody shrubs. Leaves elliptic or oblong to oblanceolate. Flowers creamy-white, sweet-scented, in terminal cymose panicles. Fruit purplish-green, globose.
  • Habit: Shrub
  • Habitat: Grown as hedge plant
  • Flowering & Fruiting: December-May

  • Parts used: Leaves, bark and root
  • Properties & Uses: Anti-pyretic, diuretic and anti-inflammatory. Leaf paste or decoction are used for the treatment of skin diseases, boils, burns, bruises, inflammations, headache, sore throat, hemicrania, bronchitis, ulcers, syphilitic sores, scabies, leprosy and spleen diseases. Bark is used to treat enlargement of spleen. Root decoction is used to treat liver diseases.
