  • Distribution: South Asia
  • Description: Twiners. Leaves oblong or ovate, apex acute to cuspidate, base widely and deeply cordate. Flowers few to many in axillary peduncled cymes, pale purple, fragrant. Follicles sub-woody, tapering and green.
  • Habit: Climbers/Lianas
  • Habitat: Scrub jungles, deciduous forests and in the plains
  • Flowering & Fruiting: September-November

  • Parts used: Tuberous roots
  • Properties & Uses: Cooling, aphrodisiac and expectorant. The plant helps to maintain vigour and strength and also promote sexual vigour. The root is used to treat diabetes, cough, eye diseases, fever and intestinal pain.

  • Traditional Uses:Root paste mixed with water and taken internally to relieve stomach pain.
