Description: Twiners. Leaves oblong or ovate, apex acute to cuspidate, base widely and deeply cordate. Flowers few to many in axillary peduncled cymes, pale purple, fragrant. Follicles sub-woody, tapering and green.
Habit: Climbers/Lianas
Habitat: Scrub jungles, deciduous forests and in the plains
Flowering & Fruiting: September-November

Parts used: Tuberous roots
Properties & Uses: Cooling, aphrodisiac and expectorant. The plant helps to maintain vigour and strength and also promote sexual vigour. The root is used to treat diabetes, cough, eye diseases, fever and intestinal pain.
Systems of Medicines: Ayurveda, Folk,
Traditional Uses:Root paste mixed with water and taken internally to relieve stomach pain.
Conservation Status: Endangered.
