  • Description: Medium trees. Leaves simple, alternate. Flowers polygamous, greenish-purple, in axillary. Fruit a samara, orbicular, wings nerved; seed one.

  • Habitat: Semi-evergreen forests, also in the plains

  • Parts used: Bark and leaves
  • Properties & Uses: Bark and leaves are used to treat oedema, diabetes, leprosy, dyspepsia and intestinal disorders and piles. Boiled bark is squeezed and its juice is used as an external application to relieve rheumatic swellings. Leaves boiled in coconut oil and it is externally applied for wounds. Fruit pulp pounded with black salt is used to treat menstrual disorders.
