Description: Large deciduous trees. Leaves simple, opposite, decussate, stipulate. Flowers bisexual, yellow, in axillary globose heads. Fruit a capsule, brown; seeds many small, with tail at one end and a bifid wing other end.

Properties & Uses: Bark is tonic, vulnerary and aphrodisiac; cures inflammations, biliousness and skin diseases; juice is used to kill worms in sores; decoction of the bark and of that of Oroxylum indicum mixed with candied sugar is given as a drink in strangury. Root is used as an astringent in dysentery. Plant extracts possesse antibacterial properties.
