  • Distribution: Indo-Malesia and China
  • Description: Rhizomatous herbs. Leaves bifarious, elliptic-lanceolate. Flowers white with purple colour in the center of lip, in prostrate or erect panicles from the rhizome. Capsule ellipsoid, striate; seeds many, angular, fragrant.

  • Properties & Uses: Seeds are carminative, acrid, sweet, cooling, stimulant, digestive, stomachic, diuretic, cardiotonic, expectorant and tonic. Seeds are used for the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, haemorrhoids, halitosis, cardiac disorders, gastropathy, burning sensation, debility and vitiated conditions of vata.
