Description: Under shrubs. Leaves simple, ovate or broadly lanceolate, sinuately dentate. Flowers white or purplish suffused. Capsule erect, ovoid, spiny; seeds, reniform, reticulate-foveolate.

Properties & Uses: Plant is acrid, narcotic, toxic, aphrodisiac, bitter, febrifuge, anthelmintic and emetic. Seeds are used to treat leucoderma, painful piles, skin diseases, ulcers, bronchitis, biliousness, jaundice and piles. Whole plant is used to treat pains of tumour. Roasted leaves are used to treat eye pain, headache, enlargement of testicle and boils. Root is used to treat inflammation.
