  • Description: Tuberous herbs. Leaves 4-6; lamina of lower-leaves much smaller, upper larger, oblong, lanceolate. Flowers large, white or pale yellow.

  • Habitat: Semi-evergreen forests and also cultivated
  • Flowering & Fruiting: June-August

  • Parts used: Rhizomes
  • Properties & Uses: Rhizome is cooling, stomachic, carminative, antipyretic, aphrodisiac and laxative. Rhizome is useful in biliousness, bronchitis, asthma and skin diseases. Roots are expectorant and astringent and are useful in diarrhea, inflammations, gleet and gonorrhea.
