  • Distribution: Indo-Malesia
  • Description: Woody climbers. Wood yellow, branchlets hoary. Leaves, ovate, apex acuminate, base truncate. Inflorescence supra-axillary or cauliflorus. Female flowers mostly from old wood. Fruit of 1or 2 drupes, globose, brown villous; seed 1, black, glabrous.

  • Habitat: Semi-evergreen and evergreen forests

  • Parts used: Stem, Root and Fruits
  • Properties & Uses: Thermogenic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and tonic. Root decoction is used for dressing wounds and ulcers. Wood is used to treat tetanus. Decoction of the stem is given internally against snake bite. Decoction of bark is used to treat malarial fever. Stem is used to treat cuts, sores, ulcers, fever, jaundice, snakebite and piles. It is also used in ophthalmopathy, inflammations and general debility.
