  • Description: Small trees. Leaves spirally arranged. Panicles axillary, slender, glabrous, many-flowered. Flowers yellowish-white. Fruit globose.

  • Parts used: Heartwood and leaf oil
  • Properties & Uses: Sedative, antiseptic, antispasmodic, expectorant, analgesic and anthelmintic. Camphor vapour is used for treating colds and related chest affections. Liniment prepared by dissolving camphor in olive oil is used extensively as an application to relieve inflammations, bruises and sprains. Camphor is used to treat leprosy, boils, worm infestation and diseases of throat.
