Description: Small trees. Leaves simple, alternate, clustered towards the apex of branchlets. Flowers bisexual, red, in terminal pendulous racemes. Fruit a fibrous berry, oblong-ovoid; seed one, ovoid.

Properties & Uses: Anthelmintic, alexipharmic and vulnerary. Leaves juice is given to treat diarrhea and dysentery. Fruits is used to treat biliousness, blood diseases, bronchitis, sore eyes and head ache. Root is used to treat cough, cold and fever. Bark is used to treat diarrhoea and gonorrhea.
