Ichnocarpus frutescens (L.) W.T.Aiton

  • Distribution: Indo-Malesia and Australia
  • Description: Climbers. Leaves ovate, apex obtusely acute, base rounded. Flowers white, terminal or axillary panicled cymes. Mericarps follicular, slender, rusty puberulus; seeds many, compressed, crowned with long silky coma.
  • Habit: Climbers/Lianas
  • Habitat: Moist deciduous forests, also in the plains
  • Flowering & Fruiting: August-March

  • Properties & Uses: The root is used to treat fever and skin diseases. The root powder administrated with milk is used in the treatment of diabetes, gall bladder stones and as a blood purifier.
